Qiao's Grand Courtyard, also known as Qiao Family Fort, is a Qing dynasty residential architectural complex located in Qiaojiabao Village, Qi County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. Qi County is situated in east-central Shanxi Province, southeast of Taiyuan City, at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains, bordering Hebei and Henan provinces. It is one of the birthplaces of Shanxi merchants.

Geographical Characteristics

The main rivers in Qi County are the Qin River, Zhang River, and Zhuozhang River, which provide water resources for agricultural irrigation and industrial development. Qi County's climate is temperate continental monsoon, featuring distinct seasons, hot and rainy summers, and cold and dry winters.
历史与文化
祁县有着悠久的历史文化。境内曾发现新石器时代的遗址，西周时期属于晋国，战国时期属于赵国，秦汉时期属太原郡。祁县在明清时期是晋商的重要商贸中心，乔家大院就是当时晋商巨贾乔家的宅邸。祁县也是祁太文化的发祥地之一，县内有众多古寺庙、古建筑和历史遗迹，具有重要的历史文化价值。
History and Culture
Qi County possesses a long history and rich culture. Neolithic ruins have been found in the area. During the Western Zhou period, it belonged to the Jin state, and during the Warring States period, it belonged to the Zhao state. In the Qin and Han dynasties, it belonged to Taiyuan Commandery. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, Qi County was an important commercial center for Shanxi merchants, and Qiao's Grand Courtyard was the residence of the wealthy Qiao family, a prominent Shanxi merchant family. Qi County is also one of the birthplaces of the Qi-Tai culture. There are numerous ancient temples, historical buildings, and historical relics in the county, which are of significant historical and cultural value.
